Alendaar

The Alendaar are a species of 'volcanic', but still carbon-based lifeforms that originate from the extremely active planet of Deradus, so active it rivals Io. Alendaar naturally inhabit the volcanoes and survive purely off heat, in a fashion similar to photosynthesis. As such they bodies act as natural heat generators (FREE HEATING) and to control the amount of heat they generate the backs of their heads act similarly to a vent or heat sink, and is constantly ejecting superheated air. The black, rocky formations across their surface occur when the 'skin' in an area sees little movement and as such hardens, grows a new layer underneath and forces the hardened layer outwards, effectively forming a natural body armor. This material around the heat vent on the back of their head is stretched by the constant stream of hot air. While they do have a defined musculature of sorts, it is built to support itself, and as such they have no actual skeletal structure. The Alendaar are of some technological capability, but see no reason to advance beyond what is needed at the time. To other species, the Alendaar are considered second-rate or even third-rate, in part due to their slight arrogance and in part due to apparent human perversion towards them. Alendaar, due to their natural, regenerating body armor, immense resilience to ballistics and visual ability and dexterity, are superior soldiers, threatening every other military known.

3016-Republic of Unified Species locates alien species on the planet of Deradus. Species confirmed to be of notable technological advancement but shows little signs of expansion beyond their moon.

3022-A passing RUS ship encounters an Alendaar vessel and makes first contact. Initial results are mild, but the Alendaar have no interest in the RUS.

3038-Trade links are established with the Alendaar, whom are skilled in making weaponry. This boosts connections with the Alendaar, and they are made part of the RUS two years later.

3056-Vela'morix drive Alendaar off Deradus. Alendaar attempt to take refuge in RUS space, but are mostly driven out. Alendaar cut ties with the RUS and flee to the Oberus 12 system.

3057-The RUS form a temporary alliance with the Alendaar.

The Alendaar are a...semi-open race. If you want to make an Alendaar for whatever reason, for the love of the cosmos(I am the opposite of religious, man), ASK. No harm done from asking. Chances are I'll say yes, but don't assume and go ahead and make one, as I said, ask.
